Waging Nonviolence is hiring a breaking news writer to produce two short articles per week about the latest developments relating to social movements and activism.
The writer will work with our small editorial team to identify the key stories of the week, drawing from a mix of current events, trending topics/discussions, pop culture and overlooked events of significance. Each of the two stories produced by the writer will be in the 500-800-word range and delivered within 5 hours of assignment, along with a suggested headline, dek and lead image. Stories should accurately summarize the key information to date, while including original reporting and/or analysis where possible.
This is a remote (US-based) position that pays $100 per story (or abt. $800/month) starting July 11. There will be a brief trial period, but otherwise the position is guaranteed through the end of this year.
